Why Does the Washing Machine Weigh So Much?

When choosing a washing machine, few people think about its weight. Although, this indicator is no less important than, for example, the download method.

What determines the weight of the equipment?

Usually, the mass of equipment is in the range from 30 to 100 kilograms, which is difficult to visually determine, and depends on:

- material for the manufacture of the housing, which can be made of stainless steel or polymers;

- product designs and materials for the manufacture of parts and assemblies;

- the weight of the balancers located symmetrically on opposite sides of the machine. They make up a large part of the mass of equipment, preventing its vibration during the washing process, and provides an overall balance. It should be noted that, at a high spin speed, the automatic machine vibrates, the less the heavier it is.

What should be the weight?

The weight of the washing machine should be greater than the mass of wet laundry in the machine in order to reduce the level of vibration, ensuring its long and uninterrupted operation. Otherwise, you should expect problems with wires, hoses and other parts.

The disadvantages of light washing machines can also include:

- less quality washing result;

- higher cost in comparison with heavy models;

- less effective spinning;

- small volume of the working drum. For a large family, this option is hardly suitable;

- a very high level of vibration during the spin cycle;

- Frequent breakdowns and significantly shorter service life.

In any case, the choice always remains with the buyer. It’s just worth considering that today many different models of washing machines are sold, which can be exactly the same, visually, but have different weights, which have a significant impact on their cost, functionality and durability.
